Sitting at Logan Airport…

It’s 8am and I’m relaxing until my flight at 9am to New York-JFK. Feeling surprisingly good after only about 3.5 hours of sleep. I’m still waiting for the big hit of the realization that I am moving overseas. It still feels unreal. I’m looking forward to the big freak out… I know its coming!

I got to hang out with my amazing sister last night; we had a night-in of TV and Thai food. It’s incredible how even if we’re just sitting and doing our own thing, its comforting being together. We don’t need to talk to feel the sisterly connection we have. I’m going to miss her so much, but that goes without saying. The car ride over was chill too, we skyped with Doug and Jill on Em’s iPhone. Doug and Jill are family friends that we met in Saudi Arabia who are currently living in Dubai with their two beautiful daughters, Rosie and Bella. They will be my go-to people while I’m over there. It’s comforting knowing that they are just 2 hours away and that I have an escape in the big city!

So now I am just killing time till my flight to New York, where I will enjoy a lovely 12-hour layover until my flight to Dubai-UAE at 11pm… WONDERFUL!

So this post is really about the people I will miss. These past two months I have been spending a lot of time catching up with old and new friends. There have been so many times these past few weeks where I have thought to myself, “Wow, I have so much love in my life.” I have so many amazing friends and family who have been so encouraging and supportive during this crazy transition. And although I may not have been able to say goodbye to all of you, I hope you know how much I appreciate the love and laughter you bring to my world. It is so hard leaving behind the people and places that I love, and scary facing new people and places. It makes me wonder if anything will ever be as good as home… But this quote from On the Road really puts things into perspective for me:

“What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? -It's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.” Jack Kerouac

While looking back at these amazing people who bring so much fun and joy to my life is heartbreaking, looking forward to the new people I will meet is exciting. I can’t have it all. So while this is just a temporary goodbye, I hope I can remain present in your hearts, as you are in mine.

And yes, as many of you know… I suck at keeping in touch! So you gotta meet me halfway here. I will try my best to stay in touch through the wild Web, but I can’t do it all. So please, send me love and words because I know I will need it.

Ma'salama! See you on the other side!
